In-Country Advocacy in the United States

Engagement with stakeholders in US

In 2023, the ECLT Foundation continued engagement with Farm Labor Practices Group (FLPG), East Carolina University’s North Carolina Agromedicine Institute, commodity associations in North Carolina, North Carolina Department of Agriculture and US Department of Agriculture-National Agriculture Statistical Service (USDA-NASS). The engagements were in the context of an ECLT-supported 3600 assessment of child labour in North Carolina agriculture.

These engagements resulted in the conclusion of a stakeholder-mandated and owned survey of child labour in agriculture in North Carolina.

The results of the farmer survey by USDA underscore the need for cross-commodity collaboration to eliminate child labour in the agriculture sector in North Carolina. In 2024, therefore, the ECLT Foundation will concentrate its advocacy efforts on fostering cross-sectoral collaboration in occupational safety and health training, aligning with the recommendations derived from the survey.
