Following an 18 month consolidation project, during which the Tobacco Tenants and Allied Workers Union of Malawi (TOTAWUM) representative carried out regular visits to the project sites, monitored the child labour situation and supported the child labour committees, ECLT's intervention came to an end in June 2006.
More information on the consolidation phase here.
TOTAWUM is committed to continue their visits, once a month, in order to help the child labour committees solve their problems and assist with formal procedures.
During the consolidation phase, an additional classroom for St. 5 was built by the communities and a classroom for St. 6 was planned. During the entire duration of the project, over 1'000 children were reached.
