The ECLT Foundation supports and funds several projects: please go to the "projects" button and click on "Projects" in the drop-down menu for information on each project.

Our aim is to fund and support field based projects which may include:

  • supportive measures which provide an incentive (financial or material) for parents to send their children to school
  • supportive measures to develop the education system
  • awareness-raising projects on education and schooling
  • specific programs to support AIDS orphans working in tobacco growing
  • and any initiatives, which may not be directly linked with education but relevant to tackle child labour issues

When deciding to support field projects, we will look at the following issues:

  • relevance of the project
  • representativeness of the project's main stakeholders
  • feasibility of the project
  • cost-effectiveness of the project
  • sustainability of the project
  • gender equality aspect of the project
  • accountability, monitoring and evaluation mechanisms
  • duplication of new projects with existing ones
  • possibility of replicating successful projects to other areas

As social and economic conditions vary from one country to the other, the ECLT Foundation needs to identify the projects that are the most appropriate given the local specificity. Beside the local affiliates of the ECLT Foundation Board Members who will retain a central role, project stakeholders and partners might include NGO's (international and/or local), government representatives (Ministries of Education, Labour and Agriculture), local and community leaders (religious, traditional chiefs, elderly) and ILO/IPEC representatives. These projects need to be impact-based in order to provide parents and children with a concrete improvement of their conditions.
